Feeling tremendous amounts of mommy guilt today

I pretty sure DD has some kind of stomach bug or maybe ate something bad. Without getting into gross details, she had 3 poop accidents yesterday: 2 at daycare and 1 at home. I know this is all a part of potty training, but usually her poops are not this messy, and she seemed so upset by the accident she had at home. It was like she couldn't get to the potty in time.

I called daycare today to check on her and it's happened once so far today, too. They haven't recommended that we take her out of daycare or anything because she seems just fine otherwise and is still peeing on the potty no problems.

Maybe it's my hormones but I feel so terrible that I can't be there for her if she's feeling bad and to comfort her if shes upset about her accidents and now I am crying on my lunch break!

Good grief ladies, tell me to get a grip already please. I am a "suck it up" kind of person and I feel ridiculous being so upset but I can't stop.

  • you know this is like 100X worse for you than her, right?

If she's embarrassed/upset, it lasts for like 5 seconds and she's off having fun w/ her friends.

  • OMG! Andy had the same issue yesterday.  He doesn't typically have explosive diapers anymore but they had to change his clothes at daycare yesterday and he had another when he got home.

I wonder if it was the breakfast or lunch at KA?

  • I know when our little ones are sick we feel so guilty that we can't help them in some way. I hope S starts to feel better soon.

Oh I totally know it is worse for me. I just feel so bad for her and I can't help it. Ugh. This parenting thing is hard sometimes.

  • I hope she feels/gets better soon!  I'm sure she'll forget all about it soon...hopefully when she's back to normal!

How are you doing with the pregnancy?  You're almost to the end!!!

  • Thanks gals. The rest of the day went well for her and she had no more accidents so I am relieved. We even went to her daycare carnival tonight and she was fine.

Chrissy I am ready! Thanks for asking. Actually I'm getting to the rather uncomfortable point but not ready to meet this little girl just yet. It's crazy how less in touch I feel with this pregnancy because I'm busy with DD. We haven't done much of anything to get ready yet! It helps that it's another girl and that they'll be sharing a room, though.
